Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers

Course Description
The BLS Healthcare Provider Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), and relieve choking in a safe, timely and effective manner. The course is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals.  Within this course you will learn the most current standards of basic life support for adults, children and infants.  This includes the proper use of an AED for adults and children. 

Course Length: Approximately 4 hours             

Intended Audience
Healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, firefighters and other allied health personnel.

Testing                                                                 

Written test is required for successful course completion.

Certification                             

American Heart Association Course.  Certification card will be issued for successful completion of the course.  Certifications are recommended to be renewed every two years.

Cost = $5.00 (covers the cost of the card)

Book is required by AHA Standards.  Current book must be available to the student before, during and after the course.  If you do not have a current book or have access to one through your employer JERD can supply you with a book.  If you choose to purchase a book the cost will be the student's responsibility.  Questions and details of this requirement can be discussed with Matt when calling for scheduling a course.
