Heartsaver Adult, Child, Infant and AED
Course Description
This course teaches the recognition of an emergency and the appropriate way to access emergency services. The course teaches those who are not heath care providers, but are required by employers or other agencies to have a basic knowledge of basic life support. This course includes adult, child and infant CPR, choking and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) use for adults and children.
Course Length: Approximately 4 hours
Intended Audience
Teachers, coaches, babysitters, day care workers, foster parents, life guards, agencies where AEDs are available, youth group leaders, employees required by their agency to have a basic life support training (non healthcare workers) and all others interested in learning life saving skills requiring a certification – except for health care providers requiring certifications.
*** Various agencies may require some of the above listed to take and complete the Healthcare Provider Course and not the Heartsaver Course. Please check with your agency to assure you are taking the appropriate course for their requirements.
Testing
Written test is required for successful course completion.
Certification
American Heart Association Course. Certification card will be issued for successful completion of the course. Certifications are recommended to be renewed every two years.
Cost = FREE
Book is required by AHA Standards. Current book must be available to the student before, during and after the course. If you do not have a current book or have access to one through your employer JERD can supply you with a book. If you choose to purchase a book the cost will be the student's responsibility.
